ICT offers the opportunity to create an environment where technology can be integrated to enhance teaching and learning. It is not about looking at a digital video or a text type in isolation – it is about satelliting a range of resources around a theme or specific text. It involves drawing on a range of resources and planning for effective use of these resources to promote and extend opportunities for reading and writing.

ICT and Electronic Texts
Electronic texts are word-processed versions of paper-based texts, these also include Interactive Whiteboard files. ICT (Interactive texts) are texts that have been specifically designed for interactivity. They are non-linear texts and include web pages, CD ROMs (Encarta) and hyper-linked texts (Barrowquest). This publication includes guidance on:

Generic Ideas for Literacy Using an Interactive Whiteboard

When planning for the literacy hour there are several ways that the Interactive Whiteboard files can support your teaching and the children’s learning. This document contains some suggestions about the type of techniques you may wish to use. You will need to adapt them to fit your plans and hence the content will significantly alter.
